Huntersville, North Carolina

1 Jun 2015 Water color

Last weekend I went to Huntersville, NC. to Donna Downey`s Studio for an art retreat.
Danielle Donaldson was there from California to teach her watercolor techniques.
I had taken several online classes with her but was excited to see her in person and watch her create.

We started off with color charts, and shapes and negatives shapes… then trees….

And finally to her famous girls. I love her girls… even did one, our own interpretation, of her 3 day girl with funky hair… which was actually our paper towel that we used to wipe our brushes off, after it had dried.. We pulled it apart then cut tiny squares which we attached to the paper with medium.

On the second day, she gave us each one of her sketches that she had drawn and we were to water color it in. Then after we signed it, she came around a signed it.. what a fun keepsake to have..

I still need to practice for sure, but it was a fun class… and gave me some good instructions as to how to use watercolor.

I left feeling inspired to create and learn more…
Glad to be linked with Sunday Sketches this weekend… go check out all the awesome art on there with Alexandra…

Have a wonderful new week,
