This is How I Roll with my Angels
There was a time not too long ago when, if you asked my son about something he was doing, he would say, “That is how I roll”
As I am looking back over the week, my first week of summer with extra days and time to play, I am seeing a common theme… Wood Distressed angels. Yep, I guess that is just how I roll these days!!
I am really trying to use up things I have here in the house instead of buying more supplies, so I find these packs of long wood pieces that I bought last year but didn`t use. Perfect to create more angels on and use for ornaments later, or on a bookshelf, just sitting..
In keeping with my color scheme, of neutrals , I used light grey, shades of brown and a buff blue.
First I painted the wood all black. love to start this way. Then I either used a white colored pencil to draw the image or just started painting with white gesso, the shape I was thinking. Then… painted with acrylics or water colored the image. Next, palette knifed the white for the wings… Some of them, I painted that buff blue on top of her, mixed with some white paint randomly…. Then a sealant spray and they are finished and ready…
Enjoyed doing the backward Bob girl…. cute haircut!!
I know most of them do not have arms, you just have to imagine them being behind them, but they do have feet!
Happy to be linked with Sunday Sketches today http://bluechairdiary.blogspot.com/
I hope you have a wonderful new week,
Love,
Janew
very nice work, great idea to use up older supplies!
thank you Christine!! I try but that doesn`t meant that I don`t still buy more at weak moments!
All your angels look wonderful. I can’t pick a favorite.
Happy Sunday
thank you Susan. Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great new week!!
Your wooden angels look fabulous, Jane! I understand trying to use what you already have before buying any more art supplies. I am trying to do the same but art supplies are definitely my weakness.
Happy Sunday! 🙂
thank you Serena, Supplies are my weakness too. Just the thrill of buying , as you anticipate how you will use them!! Happy Sunday to you too!!
Janew…I loved seeing your angels. I went to a torn down barn a week ago and picked up lots of old nailless small pieces that had been left after all the 1890’s good wood had been hauled off for repurposing. I cannot wait to give painting on the wood a try. Thank you so much for sharing your process with us…it is really giving me the inspiration to go ahead and give it a try. Your angels, front and back, are heavenly. Ho arms…they are needed. We know they are there. Liked the way you did the feet. Absolutely LOVED the post. genie
thank you Genie. Thanks for stopping by and the kind words. I hope you have a great new week!!
Your angels are lovely. I think they will sell a lot in the run up to Christmas.
