Rainbow Girls

I  signed up to take a class, Permission to Play, with Mindy Lacefield recently and sometimes she has a guest artist with a lesson.  This week was one of those weeks and the guest was Consu Tolosa . I love to meet new artists through classes or blogs and Consu is one of those who I will start following for sure. I loved her style. It was not a main lesson, just a short speed lesson, so you don`t get a lot of real details, you just have to look closely at the video and try to follow along. Her style is a bit like Mindy`s but different.I pulled out my water soluable oil sticks. I didn`t even know there was such a thing until a few months ago, but I really like them. I also used some neon oil pastels from Masters Touch, Hobby Lobby for just $6.99. So they don`t cost a lot of money if you want to try them out. You can rub them with your fingers to smudge and blend.oil sticksHere is my first attempt at the rainbow girl  lesson using oil sticks. I didn`t get a before picture of this one, just the finished look.consu 2 Consu used bright, neon colored oil sticks to add the color... then added some gold background color.... next some dark color, I used washed down paynes gray by Golden,  around the outline on one side with white on the other. Lots of colored pencil outlines and charcoal pencil outlines.... some white dots and highlights.... rainbow1Of course, if you know me at all, you know that I usually cannot stop with one ... so I started another girl with a different face...  a little more grown up...but with the same color scheme of bright, neon colors...rainbow 2rainbow And here she is all finished....And then...... One more!!rainbow girl1rainbow girl 2a Now, it is time to put these new girls to bed and move on to something else tomorrow!! Actually, I will not have much art time tomorrow so I tried to get it all in today for the weekend.
