Art hearts unite

Many years ago, my friend, Lisa, and I took art classes from our soon to be friend, JoAnne. It was an adult class that met each week during the school year and we did art together under the skilled leadership of JoAnne.Through the years, most of the same ladies signed up and came back to class in the fall. But, somewhere along the way, things changed. We weren`t just a room full of adult students pulling our art supplies out to paint. We all become friends. Good friends. We shared life together over the years, children growing up, getting married, grandchildren coming, illnesses and even retirement for some. We created many paintings in that art room but more important than that, we bonded through prayer and genuine love for each other.Lisa and I talked Jo Anne into helping us one year, making things for the Briarwood Christmas Show. That was the beginning of "Crown Creations" and we have been doing this once a year show together for almost 8 years now.We have been involved in many adventures together! We start in late spring, talking about what we will do for the new year and work through the summer, off and on. We are busy getting our inventory ready for the show in November. We collaborate with ideas and paint on wood or other mediums. This year, we have painted on old albums that were collecting dust in the basement.  It has felt good to recycle some of the things that we don`t use anymore. We used some old cigar boxes and turned them into special trinket boxes with collages and paintings on the top. We have lots of ornaments available with nativities and angels on them. We even have some paintings that we did in old drawers! Jo Anne is an excellent garage sale scavenger! She found some old drawers to add to the collection we had started with drawers from the basement that were not being used. Our painting days together have become great times of fellowship for us. We always add enough time for a lunch of chicken salad and pimento cheese during our gatherings. Sometimes our get-togethers are interrupted or postponed with requests from children and/or grandchildren but we gladly oblige.  We love to be needed!!Sometimes our talks include aches and pains that one of us is going through or a recent fall or injury that one of us (or a husband) has had.  Sometimes we spend time asking questions about something that happened and laughing cause no one remembers the answer!!  It is a real comedy show around that kitchen table but that is what makes it such a special bond. Embrace life`s situations and share smiles with plenty of JOY, is where we are in life at this season. We don`t know where Crown Creations will be heading in the future, but now, just as when we started it years ago, it is our desire to share God`s story and His love to those who purchase our pieces. So, come see us November 7, 12-6:00 and November 8, 9-4, at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Acton Road and add a piece of our art to your collection. Art to enjoy for the Christmas Season and all year. We hope to see you there!!Love,We 3 girls of Crown Creations
