The Cradle that led to the Cross

The Cradle that led to the Cross

These words by Max Lucado, are so perfect for us to have and reflect on today on Christmas Day. "It could have begun anywhere, the story of the king. But, curiously, it began in a manger. The noise and the bustle began earlier than usual in the village. As night gave way to dawn, people were already on the streets. Vendors were positioning themselves on the corners of the most heavily traveled avenues. Store owners were unlocking the doors to their shops. Children were awakened by the excited barking of the street dogs and the complaints of donkeys pulling carts. The owner of the inn had awakened earlier than most in the town.

What are our gifts to lay before the King?

As I was sitting in my CBS leadership this week, our prayer chairman had the best devotion for us. She has been on a journey these last two years, that few can even imagine, among our group. She lost her husband and was left to raise three children alone. I say alone, but not true at all. She has today, and had with her husband, the assurance of the Lord, leading and guiding her and her family. What faith, what trust.... that is what it is all about after all. She inspires all who hear her each week and this week was no exception.

Hot Chocolate bar

I have seen a few ideas of hot chocolate bars from Pinterest recently and decided that I wanted to have one in my den. I am a huge lover of all kinds of chocolate so this seemed appropriate for me to have to finish off my decor for the Christmas season. The quest was on to find the right glass containers! I found a few at Hobby Lobby and used a few that I had and came up with enough for my marshmallows, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and candy canes.

Christmas Music Box

When I was going through Mother`s things, trying to pack up her things, finding new homes for as much as I could, I came across her Christmas music box that she had made. She took ceramics for years and gave us all many beautiful things she made over the years. This particular piece was one of my favorites. It took her weeks to finish it and when she did finish, she was so proud of it.

Happy Birthday, Jesus

This is a funny story that was brought to my mind as I was cleaning out my closet the other day. Way up high on the top shelf, I pulled down a big box. In that box, was a small version of the old record players years ago that played by themselves. They had those big huge records, with the little dots on them that played as it turned around. My great-aunt had one. I loved to listen to it at Christmas time when we would go to her apartment. She was never married, had no children to leave her precious things with, and just had an extended family that helped take care of her. After she died, her record player ended up at our house with a few other things. It stayed wrapped up in the basement for a few years.

Christmas in July, for real

My two friends, JoAnne and Lisa, and I have been on a marathon few day of creating. We all love to create and we all agree that it is much more fun to do it with friends. It is more than just working.... we talk, we encourage, we laugh, we plan, we eat, then we talk some more. It is a therapy session at its best form, and we even have the benefit of doing some projects. It is not really clear when exactly this project was  planned.... it was sometime during our get together where we were having a jewelry making day! During the course of the day, we thought it would be fun to do some of these compound on wood pictures.

Merry Christmas 2008

Christmas has come and almost gone. It was a great day here at our house. We woke up early when Heston decided it was time to get up. After he ate a quick breakfast of cereal and fruit, it was time to check out what Santa had brought at the Lazenbys. Of course, much of the excitement was watching Heston with his new things. He likes to pull at the wrapping and the bows, which we all expected him to do this first Christmas of his. He got a baby laptop so he and his Daddy can do laptop together on the couch. Daddy Tom and Heston got matching Penn shirts that they can wear and be twins. His Daddy says that when they dress alike, they are being the people that we all like to make fun of!! So, I guess that means that they won`t be wearing their shirts at the same time!! Lara got a new camara with a zoom lense, the only thing that she asked for.
